Michigan Amends Taser Law

We've had quite a few calls from Michigan residents all excited about legally ordering stun guns and Tasers.® Sorry to burst the bubble. The recent ruling about legalizing these self defense products is turning out to be less that we first thought. Here's the skinny.

There is NO CHANGE in the status of the stun gun laws. The are still illegal to be bought or used by Michigan citizens. The law pertains to Tasers only. On August 6, 2012, TASERs will be legal in Michigan.  There are several exceptions that will make it impossible for any but Michigan residents to sell there.  The bill has passed allowing Michigan civilians with Concealed Pistol Licenses (CPL) to possess TASER ECDs. The buyer and the seller must have a CPL license. The dealer is required to give some training to the buyer at the time of purchase. This requirement puts the kabosh to anyone from Michigan buying their TASER over the internet.

So the law is disappointing for anyone selling over the internet, including Stun Gun Supply. But it is a step in the right direction and we're thankful for that. On th­e old "Star Trek" series, Captain Kirk and his crew never left the ship without their trusty phasers. One of the cooles­t things about these weapons was the "stun" setting. Unless things were completely out of control (as they frequently were), the Enterprise crew always stunned their adversaries, rendering them temporarily unconscious, rather than killing them.

We're still a ways off from this futuristic weaponry, but millions of police officers, soldiers and ordinary citizens do carry real-life stun weapons to protect against personal attacks. Pepper Spray To The Rescue

It may help you to carry pepper spray in your card and purse. It surely helped this person in Richardson, Texas repel an attacker. It's a good thing she was carrying pepper spray in her purse. She also had the presence of mind to put a canister of pepper spray in her pocket when she got out of the car to help a man who signaled her to stop.

“Richardson police said the woman was driving her vehicle on the 3500 block of Park Vista Road when she was waved down by what appeared to be a man jogging.  Police said the man asked for her assistance with helping his injured dog in the woods.

She got out of her vehicle and that was when police said the man pushed her down and attempted to get her into a wooded area just off the road.  The man showed a box cutter knife during the attack, according to police.

The spokesman for the police department said the woman fought off the attacker and used pepper spray on the man to get away.  She went and told someone who called police, but the man had already fled the scene.”
